If you want to see something different, if you are tired of Madrid, I suggest you go for a weekend to Ponferrada. It´s only four hours by car.
You can visit the Temple Castle - built in the 14th century, the clock tower, the city hall (baroque art). If you are hungry after you have seen all these things, you can go to eat and taste the typical food, "botillo", and if you are lucky and you go in autumn, you will eat scrambled eggs with season mushrooms, and then roasted chestnuts accompanied with red wine.
The next day if you have seen all things in Ponferrada, you may go to another places within the region of "El Bierzo", like "Las Médulas", (an old Roman gold mine), the Blacksmith of Compludo (11th century), the Castle of Cornatel, the 'Valley of Silence', and more amazing places that you can see in "El Bierzo".
